My Dad, who is not as big a luddite as you'd gather by the fact that he's still using Palm Desktop, just got a new Macbook Pro. And now he has Mountain Lion and, thus, no Rosetta. Which means that his ancient copy of Palm Desktop will no longer run. I've been warning him for years that he's relying on obsolete software, but he has steadfastly refused to switch to anything else. He hasn't had a palm pilot for years (he's currently using some flavor of Droid as a phone), but he just loves that stupid software so much that he won't use anything else for his contacts.
From my understanding, the thing he loves the most about Palm Desktop is all the extra fields and the ability to link contacts to each other.
Also, he's as stubborn as a dinosaur.
I've tried to get him to migrate all of his contacts to his gmail account. Gmail contacts are 'too slow' and he 'hates it.' He didn't like Address Book. He hated Entourage.
Is there some piece of software that I can offer up to him as a different option? I tried google, but all of the pages that I found were people trying to find software to synch their palm pilots with or who hated palm desktop and were looking for a different kind of option.
I should mention that my dad has about a bazillion contacts, so he needs something that's fairly robust.
